Nine years ago, the Macedonian Association "Ilinden"-Tirana was admitted into the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN), which is the largest minority organization in Europe. It was the first minority organization from the Republic of Albania to become a full member of the FUEN. To this day, the Macedonian Association "Ilinden"-Tirana has made significant contributions in documenting and solving the numerous issues important for the Macedonians in Albania.
Bulgarian authorities continue to crack down on Macedonians’ human rights and any expression of Macedonian identity in Bulgaria, with actions and tactics fully sanctioned by the European Union and United States.
The number of incidents have increased exponentially as s a direct result of the West’s endorsement of Bulgaria’s anti-Macedonian demands (see the European Union’s official adoption of Bulgaria’s policies, known as the “French Proposal), including, but not limited to:
Macedonian organizations filed a lawsuit in the Court of Justice of the European Union, against the European Commission, in an historic step to force the registration of Macedonian associations in Bulgaria and protect their right to freedom of assembly and association.
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of the Macedonian Club for Ethnic Tolerance in Bulgaria, and led by Nov Asnom, Macedonian Human Rights Movement International, World Macedonian Congress Canada, Simon Popovski, Iljo Janev, and several others, demands that the European Union immediately suspend its financial assistance package, administered through the European Cohesion Fund, of 1.467 billion euros to Bulgaria pending an immediate end to Bulgaria's violations of Macedonians' rights and the immediate registration of the Macedonian Club for Ethnic Tolerance and the other organizations that it has refused to register, based solely on the grounds that they are Macedonian.
Breaking news! International outrage! Someone spraypainted a politician’s office with a message (oh my God, what did it say?!) …condemning genocide and the politician for actively enabling it. Of course, Western politicians and their obedient media condemn the graffiti, not the genocide.
They have inexplicably “perfected” their faux outrage routines as the public – that is either too lazy, stupid or callous to realize it – soaks up their crocodile tears and turns a blind eye to mass murder committed by the supposed human rights “defenders”.
For the sake of clarity, which is probably necessary for most in the Western public, Israel is committing genocide in Palestine.
Macedonian Human Rights Movement International calls on Macedonians in Canada to join our support of Dan Masin, a proud Macedonian-Canadian, who is seeking candidacy in the Ontario riding of Markham-Stouffville. A proud Macedonian voice is urgently needed in Canadian Parliament in order to advocate for Macedonians and demand an end to Canada's appalling anti-Macedonian policies. As is the case throughout the Greater Toronto Area, Macedonians make up a large percentage of inhabitants in the riding of Markham-Stouffville, and we are specifically calling on them to take immediate action — the first step is to sign up for party membership so that a vote can be cast in support of Dan Masin's candidacy. (see below)
You need to take action. Otherwise, everything Macedonian will continue to be given away to those who want us eradicated. You'll be forever known as a "North Macedonian" from "North Macedonia" — terms specifically designed to eradicate our name, identity, culture, heritage, language, and history.
Saying you're Macedonian is not enough. Simply attending Macedonian events is not enough. Complaining about the brutality of the past several years without taking action is not enough.
Macedonian Human Rights Movement International does not stand idly by. We've been leading the Macedonian cause for almost four decades, with concrete human rights projects throughout all of partitioned Macedonia and international lobbying for our name and rights.
The foreign minister of the regime in Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, invented an excuse, for the third time, to avoid a court hearing against him on December 26, 2023 for violations of the Law on Civil Liability for Insult and Defamation. The first two occurrences were on May 29, 2023 and September 15, 2023. Each time Osmani claimed "unavoidable obligations", despite knowing, well in advance, of the court dates. The latter two were scheduled to be the final hearings in the lawsuit brought by Macedonian Human Rights Movement International and its president, Bill Nicholov.
Osmani slandered MHRMI and Nicholov because of their activism in defending rights of Macedonians, in this case, the severely oppressed Macedonian minority in Bulgaria — a tactic frequently used by the regime and its US government backers.
