Introduction Greece vigorously denies the existence of any ethnic minorities on its territory and attempts to suppress any voices that advocate human rights. Simply raising the issue of the Macedonian minority in Greece causes Greek citizens and politicians alike to react in outrage. The majority of Greek society supports its government's non-recognition and discrimination of its large Macedonian minority.
New acts of harassment against Greek Helsinki Monitor and activists who filed criminal actions against neo-Nazis
The Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, a joint programme of the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), has been informed by the Greek Helsinki Monitor (GHM) about new acts of harassment against the GHM and activists who filed criminal actions against Greece's neo-Nazis.
Greek minority activist target of hate campaign following conviction of Holocaust denial author
A prominent anti-racism activist who gave evidence in the trial of a Greek author who denies the Holocaust, has found himself the target of a hate campaign, waged across the internet. Panayote Dimitras, of the human rights organisation Greek Helsinki Monitor (GHM), testified at the December 2007 trial as a prosecution witness in the trial of author, Kostas Plevris.

Extensive attacks against and prosecution of Greek Helsinki Monitor(GHM) and Jewish activists who filed criminal actions against Greece's neo-Nazis. On 4 December 2007, GHM's Spokesperson Panayote Dimitras testified at a trial against the extreme-right newspaper "Eleftheros Kosmos” that published articles in conjunction of the anti-Semitic book by Kostas Plevris , "The Jews - The whole truth” (May 2006).
