The Centre for the Macedonian Language in Greece, an organization which preserves and cultivates the Macedonian language as an indigenous language in Greece, was dissolved by the Court of Appeals in Kozani on August 13, 2024. It immediately filed appeals to the Supreme Court of Greece to overturn its dissolution, which was scheduled to be heard on September 21, 2026.

Instead, the Supreme Court postponed the hearings until September 20, 2027, prolonging its deregistration in an obvious attempt to further suppress the Macedonian language and expression of Macedonian identity, in-line with Greece's official policy to deny the existence of Macedonians.

Macedonians in Greece live in a hostile environment in which their basic human rights are under constant attack, and are bombarded with daily hate speech by Greek politicians, media and the public, which has increased alarmingly since the founding of the Centre, and especially since the forced implementation of the "Prespa Agreement" resulting in the forced name change of the Republic of Macedonia. The so-called "agreement", as per Article 7(2), specifically denies the existence of Macedonians in Greece aiding the country’s policy of non-recognition and cultural genocide against Macedonians.

Macedonian Human Rights Movement International condemns the above actions and demands that the international community finally take action to end them, as opposed to its lip-service about international law while actively committing egregious human rights violations.
