Greece and Bulgaria vigorously deny the existence of the Macedonian minority on their territory and attempt to suppress any voices that advocate human rights.

Greek Government Urged to Halt Harassment of Macedonian Natives
Skopje, 9 August: Canadian national of descent from Aegean Macedonia, Gjorgji Plukovski, was not granted entrance in Greece on 4 August and was given a written explanation, which read that he represented a threat to public security and health in Greece as well as the country's relations with other EU member-countries.
Macedonian Minority in Bulgaria Launch EU Campaign
Eurolang Georgios N.Papadakis OMO Pirin, a political organization of the Macedonians in Bulgaria, is planning to launch an information offensive aimed at European and international institutions in an attempt to achieve recognition for the large Macedonian minority before the countrys entry into the European Union, scheduled for 2007.
