Annual Report Released - Human Rights Violations Against Macedonians in Bulgaria
The situation of the Macedonian minority in Bulgaria worsened due to the aggravation in relations with the Republic of Macedonia, Bulgarian attempts to force Skopje to renounce the existence of the Macedonian minority in Bulgaria and the media campaign conducted in Bulgaria in that regard. A climate of intolerance reigns in society against Macedonians and they are the object of hate speech, which is often given wide exposure through the media without being sanctioned by the institutions of the state and without encountering any condemnation by the wider society.

Human Rights Violations Against Macedonians in Bulgaria Annual Report Released, MHRMI and Macedonians in Bulgaria Demand Action
"During 2020 the situation of the Macedonian minority in Bulgaria worsened because of the aggravated relations with the Republic of Macedonia, Bulgarian attempts to force Skopje to renounce the existence of the Macedonian minority in Bulgaria and the media campaign conducted in Bulgaria in that regard. Thank you Mr Moderator. This morning I would like to make the following statement on physiological torture and intimidation carried out by Bulgarian authorities against members of the United Macedonian Organisation "Ilinden” PIRIN. As you heard yesterday, in 2005 the European Court of Human Rights ruled that the banning of OMO "Ilinden” PIRIN was a violation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
