Rainbow/Vinozhito Congress - Solun, May 30, 2004

Rainbow-Vinozhito, as a part of the European Free Alliance (EFA), will host its Congress in Thessaloniki (Solun) on the 30th of May, 2004. The Central Council of Rainbow-Vinozhito decided this after the meeting in Barcelona where a new political party was established.

The Congress, which was initially scheduled for last November in the city of Edessa (Voden), had to be cancelled twice due to threats and protests from Greek extremists. Requests to Greek authorities for assistance in dealing with such extreme racism went disregarded.

Such tolerance for minority oppression by Greek authorities was noted and condemned by the EFA and human rights NGOs.

Participants and guests at this congress include representatives of the EFA, members of the European Parliament, as well as representatives from various international and domestic organizations for the protection of Human Rights.
