2314 Macedonians From Neighbouring Countries Who Received Citizenship Can Vote August 6, 2002 2314 Macedonians from Albania, Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia and the Gorans from Kosovo, which last week expressly got Macedonian citizenship will be able to vote on forthcoming elections in any unit they choose to vote, confirmed for "Dnevnik" sources from state's leadership. For now it is impossible those persons to vote in diplomatic offices of Macedonia, because the Parliament has not approved it and there are no conditions for that. According to the Law for Citizenship, persons which got citizenship automatically have active or passive right to vote, i.e. they can vote or they can be elected. Article 11 of the Law for Electoral List says that MI is obliged for the needs of the electoral list to submit data to the Ministry of Justice about the citizens with age of 18 years, which got or lost Macedonian citizenship. As "Dnevnik" writes, according to this, statement of Minister Ljube Boskovski that persons to which citizenship is issued will not be able to vote on forthcoming elections, is not true. Boskovski in his statement this weekend said that MI issued 10.000 citizenship, and the plan for the next 3-4 years is to issue 4 million citizenship. Sources of "Dnevnik" say that issuing Macedonian citizenship is in accordance with law delivered in 1992, but the reason because of which the citizenship are issued is the forthcoming elections. This action of the power was planned at the end of last year and started in February this year.
