MHRMI Funds Opening of Macedonian Cultural Centre in Bulgaria

Macedonian Human Rights Movement International is proud to announce that we have funded the opening of the Nikola Vaptsarov Macedonian Cultural Centre in Gorna Djumaja (renamed "Blagoevgrad" by Bulgaria), Pirin Macedonia. An official ceremony will take place on October 30, 2022.

The cultural centre will be operated by the Macedonian Society for the Protection of Basic Human Rights, an organization which advocates for the oppressed Macedonian minority in Bulgaria, and will continue to be financed by Macedonian Human Rights Movement International.

Dimitar Kovachevski, "Prime Minister" of the regime in the Republic of Macedonia, pledged to fund a Macedonian cultural centre in Pirin Macedonia following condemnation of the regime for opening a Nazi-glorifying Bulgarian club in Bitola, Republic of Macedonia, named after Vancho Mihajlov, the notorious Bulgarian Nazi collaborator and war criminal.

The club was opened at the behest of the Bulgarian government — and the European Union — in their continued efforts to appease Bulgaria's publicly celebrated goals to eradicate Macedonians' ethnic identity, culture, history and existence of the large Macedonian minority in Bulgaria, so that Bulgaria lifts its veto of the Republic of Macedonia's EU membership bid.

As expected, the regime refused to follow through with their "pledge" and has chosen to continue aiding Bulgaria and Greece suppress Macedonians' identity and human rights throughout the Balkans.

MHRMI calls on human rights organizations, media outlets, journalists, political parties, and all truly interested in protecting human rights, to condemn the systemic abuse of Macedonians' rights and to attend the October 30 ceremony, as monitors and supporters. Further details will be announced.

Contribute to the Nikola Vaptsarov Macedonian Cultural Centre and/or MHRMI's numerous other human rights projects at https://mhrmi.org/donations. Macedonians are facing the biggest threat to our identity — and existence as Macedonians — in recent history. Act now.
