Macedonians in Albania Strongly Condemn Bulgarian Deputy PM's Latest Statement

The Macedonian Association “Ilinden” - Tirana strongly condemns the September 9 statement by Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov. Referring to Macedonia, Karakachanov said: ‘You changed your name and your flag, you wil also change your history”. This is his brazen announcement that Bulgaria will block the opening of EU accession talks at the first inter-governmental conference between Macedonia and the European Union, unless Macedonia meets the conditions from the anti-Macedonian treaty concluded on August 1, 2017 to revise Macedonian history in a way that will portray Macedonians as Bulgarians, the Macedonian language as a mere Bulgarian dialect and Macedonia as part of Bulgaria.

Macedonians in Albania condemn the aggressive attitude, revisionism and irredentism that Sofia aims against the Macedonian people and against Macedonia. Macedonians in Albania condemn the Nazism and Fascism Sofia expresses toward Macedonia and the Macedonians, and its attempt to re-awaken the Russian creation of a San Stefano Bulgaria declared on March 3, 1878. This romanticized creation was never brought to life and never will, but its idea continues to lead to territorial claims from Sofia aimed against Macedonia and is an open threat against our good-neighbourly relations.

The Macedonian Association “Ilinden” - Tirana calls on the democratic and informed public in Europe and across the world to strongly denounce the aggression, revisionism and irredentism from Sofia and its renewed attempt to occupy Macedonia and perpetrate genocide over the Macedonian people. Macedonia and the Macedonians can’t become victims to populist parties and disturbed individuals from neighbouring Bulgaria who, instead of promoting peace and love, spread hatred and war, racism and apartheid againt the Macedonians in our homeland and around the world.

The Macedonian Association “Ilinden” - Tirana condems the government in Sofia for its discriminatory, racist and Nazi-Fascist demands that seek to nullify the entire existence of the Macedonian people.
