Macedonians in Albania Call on the Albanian Government to Protect Macedonian Rights

Macedonian Association "Ilinden"-Tirana and Macedonian Association "Ilinden"- Branch Golo Brdo urges the Government of Albania to form the Municipality of Golo Brdo and the Municipality of Gora. Five Years since the territorial division, and there is no prosperity for the Regions of Golo Brdo and Gora!

Macedonian Association "Ilinden"-Tirana and Macedonian Association "Ilinden"- Branch Golo Brdo were convinced that the territorial division in Albania that took place in 2014 would not bring any prosperity to Golo Brdo and Gora marking five years and the regions have not improved. On the contrary the situation has worsened. The Macedonian minority in the districts of Golo Brdo and Gora sees the merger of municipalities as a step back in respect of minority rights in the areas of Golo Brdo and Gora. The merger of the municipalities did not improve the conditions of the Macedonians in the areas of Golo Brdo and Gora, but made the lives of the residents more difficult. Namely, for one document or providing any service people should take two hours to travel, not to mention other daily necessities. Therefore, Macedonian Association "Ilinden"-Tirana and Macedonian Association "Ilinden"- Branch Golo Brdo require the Government of the Republic of Albania and the Minister of Local Self Government to form two separate municipalities, the Municipality of Golo Brdo and the Municipality of Gora. After all, this was the proposal of the Macedonian national minority in the Republic of Albania to propose before the territorial division began.
