Ladies and Gentlemen, during the dictatorship in Greece more than 30 years ago, the Ministry of Justice of the Military Junta ordered the Public Prosecutor to identify and investigate Greek citizens who called for freedom of expression, personal liberties and the establishment of a democratic system.
Thank you Mr Moderator. We just heard the statement of the representative of Rainbow who gave us examples of harassment of the members of the Macedonian minority of Greece. I would now like to add that the intimidation is not limited to members of the minority.
My statement today shall focus on the rights of Macedonian national minority of Greece. In line with Greek nationalist ideology, successive Greek governments have failed to acknowledge the existence of a distinct Macedonian ethnic identity and Macedonian language. The attitude of Greek authorities to the very concept of minority rights deserves particular attention.
Thank you Mr Moderator. My statement today will focus on the linguistic rights of the Macedonian speaking minority of Greece. One of the basic demands of the Macedonian minority is to have the right to use traditional place names and have their first name and surname in their own language recognized by the state.
Thank you Mr Moderator. This morning I would like to make the following statement on physiological torture and intimidation carried out by Bulgarian authorities against members of the United Macedonian Organisation "Ilinden” PIRIN. As you heard yesterday, in 2005 the European Court of Human Rights ruled that the banning of OMO "Ilinden” PIRIN was a violation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Thank you Mr Moderator. Today I would like to bring everyone's attention a case concerning Bulgaria's refusal to respect the right of freedom of association. The United Macedonian Organisation "Ilinden” PIRIN is a political party defending the rights of the Macedonian minority in Bulgaria.
Thank you Mr Moderator. I am here today to speak about the lack of freedom of expression and free media for the Macedonian minority of Greece. Let me start by stating that in 2008, it would not be an unusual thing to hear ethnic music and singing in a minority language.

Thank you Mr Moderator. This afternoon I would like to talk about Greece's denial of the right to freedom of movement to individuals born within its borders. Although Article 9.5 of the Copenhagen document declares that States will respect the right of everyone to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country, Greece has and continues to ignore this OSCE commitment.
