Open Letter by Dr. George Nakratzas To the Right Honourable Konstantinos Simitis Prime Minister of Greece Athens Dear Mr. Prime Minister, It was reported by the Macedonian Human Rights Movement of Canada that last year three Canadian nationals of Macedonian descent had been denied entry to Greece.
Another Canadian-Macedonian Denied Entry into Greece
The Macedonian Human Rights Movement of Canada (MHRMC) has learned that Mendo Petrevski, a Canadian citizen of Macedonian descent, was denied entry into Greece on May 30, 2002. This is the third documented incident in 2002 of a Canadian citizen being refused entry into Greece simply because of their ethnic background.

Greece: Minority Languages, Plea For More Recognition (Part 1)
Greece is being urged to grant more recognition to its minority languages -- Vlach, Macedonian, Albanian, Turkish, and a version of Bulgarian called Pomak. At present, only Turkish is recognized. Now the European Bureau for Lesser-Used Languages (EBLUL) has undertaken an initiative designed to highlight the plight of these neglected minorities.
